2020-10-03 Santa's Hideout Hollow Charity Work Rally

This was a very unique rally! It was a work rally for a place for terminally ill children to spend a last Christmas with Santa. This rally was supposed to be our Camping clubs region event but it was really just our NOVA club and not the whole region of clubs. This event was organized by our own Dan & Dawn. They did a great job, too!

The event was based around "Wally's Tree Farm" to be representative of a classic tree sales lot where we installed a vintage Airstream trailer as the lot house/store with landscaping, lights, a handicap ramp into the trailer and so much more.

We all helped do different projects on the Santa village properties like painting fences, refurbishing a Airstream trailer, landscaping, assembling a handicap ramp, grating the walkway which will be paved at a later date, etc.

We weren't allowed to take too many pictures of the village as it is to remain a surprise for all who come here. We were able to get some pictures of the work site and and few from around the grounds.

This village is absolutely amazing with functioning and staffed ice cream parlor, court house (with a REAL county judge), hair salon, chapel, country store, helicopter pad, etc.

My jobs turned out to be hanging the Christmas lights and assembling the ramp then trimming it out with Trex decking along the side borders. I also did general supply runs and toting equipment to and fro. We all worked as teams and worked quite well together. The longest single job was probably the new floor installation into the Airstream. The team on that did a fantastic job. Fence painting was done by Carie on that team and they mainly did the fences and some light posts (that I hung the lights on). Landscaping and mulch was done by others. Many other large and small tasks were done by all. Everyone was on multiple "teams" doing many different jobs.

This was an overall excellent all volunteer team working charity experience and Carie & I are very glad we participated.

I may edit this soon with additional pictures from Carie...stay tuned...

Santa's Airstream! The trailer getting the work done to it. I guess it's "Wally's" trailer since the name of the exhibit is Wally's Tree Farm.

Around the grounds, well, somewhat...

Alpaca's. They also had 8 reindeer

At Camp. We all camped across the street in the lot of the neighbors horse farm. We were to stay right in the work area but the ground was too soft.

The REAL Santa Claus!
