2018-06-09 OH to NH Caravan

Carie & I went to NH to visit my family and we invited friends to join us on a caravan camping rally to be combined with visiting my family. The plan was to drive half way to Bald Eagle State Park in Pennsylvania, then to Salisbury Beach State Preserve for two night on the beach and then on to NH to Jigger Johnson campground on the Kancamagus Highway which intersects the White Mountains of NH. We spent three nights at Jigger Johnson then onward for two nights at a private campground in Northwood, NH called Saddleback Campground. Carie & I have stayed at Saddleback before. It's a nice place, under new ownership since our last visit three years ago in our T@B camper. So the friends who came along are Tom & Ella and John & Suzie and all their new puppies! We planned a few sightseeing activities but time only allowed for some, including a ride up the Mount Washington Cog Railroad! That was pretty cool! I did it with my parents in the early '70's on the original coal-fired steam engine, Pappersass, which is now on display. They still have a couple of steam engines that go up the mountain occasionally but most of the trips are done by new eco-diesel engines, which is what we took. Oh and we did two (!) lobster boiled dinners on this trip! But of course, we're in New England!

We had a medical issue between Salisbury Beach and Jigger Johnson. Suzie cut her foot at the trash dumpster just before leaving Salisbury and we made a pit stop at a walk-in medical center. While John & Suzie tended to that the rest of us hung out at a little roadside diner and enjoyed a hour or so under Tom's awning.
Set up at Jigger Johnson on the Kancamagus smack in the middle of the White Mountains!

Being in New England called for a lobster dinner at the campsite. We actually had lobster boils not once but twice!
John showing us "stupid lobster tricks" by rubbing the lobsters neck puts it in a trance then you can make it do a hand stand!
