2018-03-18 Potato Creek SP and a Notre Dame Game

Carie wanted to go to my cousin's daughter, Katheryn's Notre Dame basketball game (who sat out after an ankle injury 3 minutes into the game!) so we combined it with a campout at Potato Creek State Park a few miles South of South Bend, IN and the Notre Dame campus. I was able to talk friends Tom & Ella into joining us and they even went to the game, too. ND won the game, by the way. The campground and park were pretty nice. I liked it a lot. The park has a nature center, too, that we checked out which has history and animals, both live and taxidermied (is that a word?).

We'll start out our pictures with the game!

2018-03-03 Winton Woods

Went out for a late Winter scratch-the-camping-itch campout. Went local to Winton Woods with Tom & Ella. Didn't take much for either of us to talk the other into going out! The weather was about 50 degrees, sunny and a slight wind. But it was sunny and beautiful for sure! We opted for the full hook up pull through sites since those are completely concrete so no late Winter mud to deal with although the campground had been flooded just a couple of days prior and still had the closed signs up. Tom & Ella were their usual gracious selves and treated Mearth (me) (Remember Jonathon Winters as Mearth on Mork & Mindy) to several meals. They are awesome! We had two dinners and a breakfast in camp and ate out a couple of meals including a trip to downtown Newport-on-the-Levy (Kentucky) to the Hofbrauhaus. Excellent German food and atmosphere. A fun place! We met T & E's son, Micah at the restaurant were they refilled Micah's growlers! Back at camp we had a few campfires which were very welcomed at the colder temps in the evenings & mornings. It was my birthday, too, and one of the meals was my birthday supper so that was extra nice! Thanks Tom & Ella! They even got me an Airstream hoodie for my birthday!!! Did I mention how awesome they are? Overall a really nice weekend! Our next scheduled campout is in a couple of weeks at Hocking Hills SP (if we don't get out again before then) so be on the lookout for that blog update. It should be a lot of fun and will be a good rally with 6 or 8 RV couples in attendance!
